The Iranians could make passage throught the Hormuz Straits quite a problem.

I guess the Bush admin. really wants to se oil hit 75 a barrel.

Hmpfh. Neither the European Union or America is in position to do *squat* about Iran.

You Euros don't have teeth, for starters. Sure, you got decent economies and nice welfare states, but you can't project power at all. Iran knows this. The best you can do is threaten bloc-only sanctions, because there's no way in hell the U.N. Security Council is ever going to allow world sanctions — Russia and China will see to that.

America, hell, we have the economic and military might, but our plate is full with Afghanistan and Iraq. Iran knows this. Another thing tying us down is the fact that a good part of the world seems to despise the United States, so anything we do is immediately questioned. This didn't originate with Dubya, either. I can remember back in the 1990s when Clinton's America had its integrity questioned as well.

So that means if we're really serious about not letting Iran get nukes, we'd better bare our asses and wiggle them enticingly to the mullahs. That or hope that The Little Nation That Could — Israel — does something we can all rejoice (or *****) about later.

It's a great world we live in, isn't it?

It wasn't an oil tanker that shot down the civilian airliner, was it?

          Reading comprehension, dude:
The main, completely dominant reason the US Navy is in the Persian Gulf is to secure the flow of strategic energy resources such as oil and gas from it.

You don't have to be invited into Intl. borders, and IIRC, there are Intl. waters in the persian gulf.

Asked if that included the use of force, Bush replied: "As I say, all options are on the table. The use of force is the last option for any president and you know, we've used force in the recent past to secure our country."
Yes, he is stupid/crazy enough to do it.

Apparently it was an "heroic achievement"...

This thread makes me laugh - you'd think the chickenhawks had learned nothing from Afghanistan and Iraq...

Could you please stop inventing new enemies and go after the original one, after all 9/11 was perpetrated by Osama and his Saudis and four years later he is still free!

If I were American I would be embarrassed that the most powerful nation in the world has been rendered impotent by one man...

What people should truly realize is that no one wants outside force in, unless it's desperate situation. For example, if the US decided to invade us for some reason, make it even our 'fault' and provocation, I'd hate it for sures but I'd stay and defend as hard as I can and take as many of you capitalist pigs down as possible .

That's the way it goes. Like they say.. assumption is the mother of all ****ups. It's true.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. That's the way it goes too.

So. Assume Iranians will all fight as hard as they can. Not 'they will join us'. Because that's just made up BS we don't know will happen. It's most fair to assume no one joins. That's a war plan. Nothing else is.

The real danger is not the U.S. hitting Iran. Here is an interesting scenario.
