I dont know. everything ive read lately indicates most Israeli public opinion is rallying against the settlers, who are looking to radical. Your thoughts Eli?

Not going to happen. The settlers had just suffered two very significant defeats in their attempts to oppose the pullout. They organized two demonstrations with huge promises about breaking into Gush Katif and both failed miserably. They lost the battle. Only a "Black Swan" event can change anything now.

The reason why there will be no "tearing the country apart" is that during those protests, when the march to Gaza was about to begin and the settlers faced hordes of policemen and soldiers, their leadership, the only ones who are able to organize something large scale, were faced with two options, back off or start with riots. In both events, they backed off. Contrary to popular opinion, the settler leaders are responsible people, they will not turn to voilence.
That leaves us only with small cells or lone terrorists, like we saw today. But they dont have the means to create a real crisis.

Same as above, it wont happen. The leaders who are able to organize large scale opposition are not fanatics.

I dont know either. I think the settlers managed to get some sympathy by running the two demonstrations peacefully, but it looks like they also lost most of their momentum there.

Today's event can change things. We'll have to see how tommorows papers spin things.

                  That may be incorrect.
After all it was also "just a lone terrorist" who shot Yitzhak Rabin 10 years ago.

Yes, of course. But that enters the category of highly unlikely events. Sharon is protected so strongly now that I doubt any lone madman is able to hurt him.

Rabin was shot because he was allowed to, look for the people with power to remove security for the real people behind the assassination. Blaming patriots
