  • iPod and iTunes problems

I'm listening to some music, and I notice that when I select a song, iTunes automatically changes the genre of the song. Take Sonic Youth, for example. I classified their music in "Rock alternatif" (alternative rock). But when I select a song, iTunes automatically reclassifies it as 'Alternrock". A real pain in the ass.

    It looks like this:

Apple is such a helpful company.

Use winamp and the iPod plugin for it.

Another problem, with my iPod this time. There's an auto-pause function on it. Whenever you unplug your headphones, it pauses. It sounds like a good idea at first glance, but its not. The problem is this: its really, really easy to make it pause, even if you don't unplug it. Often, it pauses if you touch your headphone's cable! So you walk down the street listening to a great song and it suddenly pauses. Is there a way to turn the damn auto-pause off?

Disable iTune's ability to update/modify id3 tag settings.

When things try to be too helpful, often times, their idea of help is not what you want. iTunes needs to learn this--and it's why I use WinAmp instead.

From a quick googling, it seems quite a few people have an oversensitivity issue with autopause on the iPods (especially iPod Photos) when used with certain non-apple headphones.

There is no way to disable it.

                Workaround:

                Avoid-Automatic-Pause Tip:
There is a great feature in the new Ipods that pauses playback if the headphones become unplugged. Say you are listening to an audiobook and you catch your headphone wire on something and the plug pops out. No worries. You don’t miss a single word because the playback pauses automatically. This usually works very well, however I’ve noticed that the feature can be quite sensitive when using non-apple headphones. Sometimes, when you go to tuck away your Ipod after choosing your song, jostling the plug in the slightest pauses your playback. Then you have to dig it out again and press play only to nudge the headphone jack again and (damn!) auto-pause. What to do?

To avoid this, simply unplug your headphones. Press the play button while your headphones are unplugged. You can now plug and unplug your headphones at will without inadvertently pausing.

Looks like they "fixed" that on the latest firmware.

                      God bless Apple.

It sounds like their Podcast design is royally stupid also:
                      # Why can’t you just give Itunes an RSS URL in order to subscribe to a podcast? This is technically possible, but the feature is buried. Seems like they want to make it hard to subscribe outside of their promotional ITunes interface

                      # Once I subscribe to a podcast, why is there no back button to get back to the directory where I left off?

                      # Why is there no playcount column in the list of podcasts to which I have subscribed?

                      # The software on my Ipod is cumbersome too. Why are podcasts a separate category instead of just another playlist?

                      # And why can’t I use the star rating interface?

                      # And why, by default, does the Ipod remove a podcast from my Ipod even though I have only listened to half of it?

                      # And why doesn’t my Ipod play each podcast concurrently? When one is over, I have to dig it out and explicitly choose the next one.

I don't understand, I updated the firmware last week or the week before that...

Thanks for the info but, stupid question maybe, how do you do this? Uncheck the keep iTunes music folder organized option?
