According to Wiki, potatoes isn't on the list of things you need to avoid. Anyway, you can still have fried chicken, it just has to be tempura or corn batter.

Apparently gluten causes scaring of the intestinal vilii for those with this condition.

Does it cause pain? I would think you could take some meds or ingest some kind of medicine like Pepto-Bismal to coat your stomach and the rest of your insides.

Wow, that sucks. Wheat is supposed to be good too.

Besides Smiley's comment, seriously try many of the Asian cuisines. Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian all have numerous dishes that are gluten free - I'm assuming the only source is wheat, I'm only casually aware of celiac disease.

Indian cuisine has alot of bean/lentil bases dishes for your carbs, while the other three have various rice-based noodles. Google each cuisine with it's name and recipes, look at the thousands of hits, and download the recipes that look interesting. The biggest thing that you may have a problem with is that you will probably go out to eat less, and need to cook more. Since home-cooked food is often healthier, look at the bright side.

I treat myself to pizza maybe a couple of times a year, they put me on cholesterol drugs in my thirties my due to my nearly nonexistant good cholesterol - genetics. I really miss it, bad luck. Loosing out on real bread now that I've largely given up cheese - that would be really lousy. Good luck.

If you come live in India ( South India ) , then you won't even notice the absence of wheat in your diet . At least I didn't , when I stayed there for some time . The normal north Indian diet has wheat , though .

My mother has it, as do some of her brothers, so I'm pretty much sure I'm genetically susceptible to it . AFAIK they all developed (triggered?) it at an age after 40, though, so I guess I should have a little time left to eat my bread...
