japher, get a domain you like, it costs about 10 bucks. get a host server, go for one with large bandwidth, should be 10 to 15 a month.
freeware blogsoftware is widely availabe. put everythiong together and voila. should be 2-3 days work tops, and 20-30 bucks.Comment

you need bandwidth because a site is a good thing to have, it will eventually grow on you. your question is like "why get a double garage ? i own a bike". trust me, the space will come in handy, once you step out of your cribbComment

My host is pretty cheap, and I know the guy who runs it too (actually, this is a subsidiary bought out by the company he runs). $15 per YEAR for 300mb space, 6GB monthly bandwidth, and lots of niftiness.
