  • US a Theocratic Dictatorship?

A lot of people out there really can't stand Bush. I admit I don't like the guy much myself. Often though many people will say, with conviction, that Bush intends to or will turn the United States into a theocracy or a dictatorship.

I'm just putting out this poll to see how many people believe that.

I really don't dislike Bush, but I wouldn't trust him on this one.

The results have the potential to be really funny. Good one, Ozzy!

Why the future tense in the question?

One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

there is a little thing called free elections every 4 years. So the answer is no.

          In 3 1/2 years we'll have a different nutcase.

Well, look at abortion. Drinking. Look at what happened with that Euthanaisia scandal (Schiavo?).

abortion is still legal. drinking is still legal. euthanasia (certain rules apply) is still legal.

there are limits however, on those. For abortion in particular, that is neither fair nor just.

Main problem I suppose though is that this is not a simple yes/no question. It is more of a sliding scale. In that sense, USA will propably become more of a theocratic nation.

I was refering to limits such as the monetary cost of abortion.

What's really sad is that despite the fact that this was the second post of the thread, your prediction came true

On a sliding scale of priorities wrt medical costs, with "monetary cost of antibiotics" on one end and "monetary cost of elective cosmetic surgery" on the other end, I'd have to put "monetary cost of abortion" just slightly above "monetary cost of a sex change operation."
