If they thought the guy had explosives on him, pushing him to the ground (and then shooting him in the head, so as to not trigger the explosives) is a sound precaution.

How do you come to the conclusion that he was no threat just because they had grounded him ?Originally posted by Gibsie
I would assume by the time they had him on the ground they'd worked out he was no threat, which is why executing him is okay, silly. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

You know, I'm sure I've seen the Israelis apprehend suspected suicide bombers without leaving their brains on the pavement a good few times. By what Jewery do they accomplish this?
Its amazing that some people actually have the lack of reasoning necessary to defend this.

No, it is more amazing that people can't distinguish between a subway station and a checkpoint.Originally posted by JimmyCracksCorn

"We are now satisfied that he was not connected with the incidents" = "We are now fully convinced that he was not connected with the incidents". It has nothing to do with them being happy about it.

So you really do think that they tackled the guy then stripsearched him well before he would have an opportunity to detonate any explosives he would have on him? That's an interesting theory.Originally posted by Gibsie
Oh, right, yes. The police shouldn't shoot at people they suspect might have bombs on them- but once they know they're clean and no danger to anyone, then it's fine for them to unload into them."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. I'm not entirely sure my initial claim that Israel has taken down suicide bombers without killing them is correct... but I'm sure if they seriously thought that a suspected suicide bomber could somehow still set off a bomb with three guys sitting on them, then they'd kill him in an instant. There may not be hundreds of people nearby in the situation we're hypothesising about, but I'm sure Israeli security officers value their own lives above a suicide bomber's.Originally posted by BlackCat

Of course, Ludd is completely correct. They should've done a full-scale international investigation on the guy's history, as well as published a detailed biography on the man before they decided to shoot a man they thought to have explosives on him.Originally posted by General Ludd
That would be a justifiable precaution... if the man was actually involved in the bombings in some way. But apparently he was completely unconnected.
It's good to know so many of us are as connected as Ludd is to the real world.

Where did it say he was pinned?Originally posted by JimmyCracksCorn
Ok, so the point remains. If they had him pinnned down, why did they need to shoot?
From the descriptions I've read, the guy half-tripped and was half pushed, the cop jumped on him and unloaded the bullets into his head. That's quite a different thing than ensuring he's not triggering a bomb somehow."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
