    Funny how that was one of the original mechanisms for mouse cut and paste. They got rid of it because it was stupid.

            In Latvian, vista means "hen". And it's also sometimes hence used as a derogative term for slow stupid women.

              Windows Vista will catch on... It's like Lucky Luke and similar names... Pretty sure it'll boil down to Windows Virus, though...

              Windows Longhorn would be a lot cooler... Makes me think of Lucky Luke and the Wild West...

                Windows vista has the benefit of being easy to say in plenty of languages (at least European ones), which will please the international audience. It's a name easy enough to remember, and the advertisement campaign will make sure that everybody knows about it.

                I don't think "Longhorn" sounds cooler to non-geek ears. Do you really think the 50 year old housewife would enjoy "longhorn" more than "vista"?

                    I hope that MS lives up to their promises with this one . If they do , then they may redeem themselves in my eyes for the horror that was Windows 95 . ( I say this because there are some MS developer blogs claiming that Longhorn is as big a step up over XP as 95 was over 3.11 )
