  • Misnamed Networks

Okay, the classic, of course, is MTV, Music Television, which no longer shows music videos.

    How about some others?

The Discovery Channel is now all about motorcycles and big machines.

TLC, The Learning Channel is now all about home improvement.

A&E, Arts & Entertainment: crime investigation and murder

The History Channel: not so bad as the others as it still devotes half it's time to WWII and the American Civil War. Much of the rest though is devoted to big machines.

Biography: The mystery shows that used to be on A&E (Poirot, Inspector Morse, Cadfael, etc.)

    What else is there?
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

CNBC - Consumer News and Business Channel

          Now almost exclusively Business News.

The History Channel is usually called the Nazi Network in media circles

I've heard it as The Hitler Channel.

Yeah... when they named the network, that was probably where it came from. However, when they actually launched it/promoted it... it was listed as the "Consumer News and Business Channel" and was true to their name at first. Then they started getting the financial advertisers... and found their role as a business news channel.

And che... I've heard it called that as well... But the Nazi Network is the name that survived in the media community

For awhile, Cartoon Network was the Scooby Doo Network.

GMTA. My wife and I were having this conversation just last night, and we used the exact same examples as you did (except "Biography".)

8 months without cable now and still one of the best decisions I've made in years. I broke free of the crap.

The Stuka Channel! though they apparently stopped that after the simpsons episode.

I thought you meant misnamed LANs. I can see all the other wireless LANs in my building and they presumably can see mine. Makes me want to change the name of my network to "Satanic gay orgies and donkey buggering here".

I still watch the History channel occasionally. It's just not as good as it used to be.

And for further clarification: TLC is not only the home improvement channel, but the channel about babies, pregnant women, and marriages.

CourtTV is only court during the day.

The Military channel should be renamed the Air Force channel.
