And for further clarification: TLC is not only the home improvement channel, but the channel about babies, pregnant women, and marriages
... and "What Not To Wear"

What did TLC used to host before "While You Were Out" and "Trading Spaces" hit it big? I certainly can't remember- didn't it host documentaries?

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Yeah, documentary series. They used to have "The Day the Universe Changed" and "Connections" BY James Burke. Great series.

Can't say I ever heard of those two... Just wondering, what were they about?

Burke specializes in explaining various connections between seemingly unrelated inventions (one episode in Connections goes into how ideas in the development of the Jaquard (sp?) loom were implemented in early computers.)

You can see his works here. Fascinating stuff, even if he does reach some times.

This series explores the various paths of how technological change happens and the social effects of these changes on Western society. To illustrate this, James Burke follows various timelines of how one innovation lead to something seemingly totally unrelated in the future such as how a 17th century Dutch cargo ship design lead to development of plastic in the 20th century.

The Day the Universe Changed was an awesome series.

yeah I still watch history channel.

Mail Call is on right now. That's a pretty good program. They are covering radios right now. Really cool how they can build a field radio out of a few common items.

yeah sure it's more of a military channel than a history channel, but oh well. Actually, I think there is an military channel now. But I don't think it's nearly as good as the history channel. R. Lee Ermey rules! though he also reminds me of the computer game Fallout Tactics. He's a major character (V.O.) in that game.
