  • JT, you know your daughter is either going to become a fundiemntalist or a communist/anarchist, right? It's the only way she can rebell.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

    • She doesn't have to become a fundie to tick him off by his posts in this thread but it would seem to be the best way to do so.

      • That said I have to slightly disagree with Lefty's rating. CivNation was the only troll I've seen so far that deserved a 10/10. This is a 9 at most.

So you won't take pictures of strangers because of your "Southern manners", but you will rat out the same strangers to a multinational corporation in the hopes that said corporation will lower the boom on them for copyright infringement?

I guess "manners" is how they say "cowardice" in the South...
I didn't "rat out" the strangers, I took their organization to task for stealing.

          Nice try, though.

I have all the tolerance in the world. What I don't want, however, is for a religious organization condoning theft in an attempt to lure my child.

****, people, all of you who are arguing against me are upset as to who I did this to, not what I did. As Wiggy himself more than implied, if I'd have done this to a homosexual organization, he would be on my side. If I had done this to Scientologists, nobody here would bat an eye. But because I did it to a Christian church the true fundamentalists on this board are willing to overlook the church's original sin (again, stealing imagery that is not theirs) to dump on me.

            • Well it isn't exactly clear that it is a theft of copyright. What is clear is the fact that you didn't really care about that. Only that it might be appealing to your child and lure her away from the path you'd like her to follow.

Seeing as how this survived a legal challenge I fail to see how the shirts (as described by JT) are close to crossing the line.

Let's not forget 2 Live Crew and thier unauthorized use of "Oh, Pretty Woman" was deemed legal as well.

Jesus wasn't big at that, judging from the cleansing of the Temple episode.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Look, Disney doesn't allow the use of their characters to promote non-Disney products. Period. This is as much a part of their history as Mickey Mouse. Hell, they even threatened to sue the Oscars for their unlicensed use of Snow White in the hilariously awful opening skit in the 1989 ceremonies. It wasn't until the MPAA grovelled like a bunch of servants and officially offered an apology (and agreed to never show the footage again) did Disney back off.

Did you happen to notice the 171-word disclaimer at the bottom of the screen? Also, "parody" is an accepted exception in regards to copyright - using unlicensed copyrighted images to advertise a church is not.
