Well, the same is true of voting, it's a system that's open to most people, regardless of intelligence, wisdom, bias, etc. At least with juries there are attempts to mitigate some of this, but often unsuccessfully. One of the disadvantages of a democracy, I suppose.

I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Juries are weird, they just may buy it.
Valid maybe, but stupid is right. Jury members Ms. Plain Jane or Mrs. Ugly Hag would more likely hear, "you 2 are ugly enough for prison, but not my client." And some other jury members might find it insults their intelligence. It has more potential to backfire than anything.

It seems more likely he said that to the reporters after the hearing just for publicity. That's hardly the only emotional tactic, much less a good one. And perhaps he's clueless, attorneys can be weird too.

Do you really think that you have a problem with hopeless voters in US ? Unless I'm wrong, then you are in that lucky situation that only 60 % of your voters is active - try to figure out what hell we have here where 80-90 % of the voters use their rights !!!

Actually, it 's pretty hard to elect a government based upon those that know better under such circumstances.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Bingo! A lot of guys here are turned on by the idea of nailing their teachers when they were 15 or whatever, but the reality of the situation is that the 15 year old is likely to be overwhelmed by the experience in a way that will be hard to overcome. If you are still turned on by this in your 20s, imagine how it would be when you are 15. You'd fall in love for the first time with a crazy woman (and it might take some time to get over just the sense of loss), and going back to your own peer group for nervous kisses etc. is going to be pretty dull in comparison. Unfortunately it is exactly that sort of thing you need in order to develop normally.

I think that the legislature would likely make a complete hash of it (zero tolerance, war on sex, mandatory sentencing, no strikes and you're dead, etc.), though in a perfect world it would indeed be the solution. Fortunately here in the U.S. from what I have seen most judges do an excellent job of sussing out who can be rehabilitated and who cannot and sentencing them accordingly. I've been pleasantly surprised by this.

Sexual abuse cases against women are rare, and the women who perpetrate these sorts of crimes are on average a lot more mentally ill than the men who do so. That could pose some problems for judges if they begin to sentence them accordingly, as it might appear to some that they are being discriminated against.

It seems that many Nordic-germanic feminists believe in reverse sexism. They call it "gender mainstreaming", which is basically the affirmation of new sexual prejudices, this time positive for women.

IIRC there was a case some years ago where a judge refused to send a small white guy to the pen for the same reason.

Best tactic would probably be for her to claim something emotional - instability, insecurity, frailty, scarring. Anything emotional. It's tried and tested wrt. getting women off the hook. It's like a female race card.

What's with the mass drooling anyways? She's above average. Could pass for a Walmart clothing model. That's not really that uncommon.
