Yep, here $2 gets a bottle of OK wine, while $5 - $10 and you're getting good stuff. I don't buy drinks at restaurants, they're too expensive for a student budget. Most of my friends in school think I'm an alcoholic

I personally think that I'm noit an American.

I spend around $60 a week. I don't pay rent cause I live at home and I still live on a post-grad budget. I'm gonna get a fulltime job in a month or so, so I doubt I will have time to drink. I've found this great place where I can get a 12-pack for $7.00 US.

Albeit, it isn't up to the quality I would like to drink, but then again SamAdams is pretty friggin expensive here. Usually around $10.00 to $12.00 for a 6-pack. On the rare chance though, it will be $14.00 for a 12.

at the supermarket, I used to be able to get samn adams 12 pack for around $13. I never buy beer anymore for home though. this was a sale price I believe. And this was at albertsons. You just have to look when they have their value deals.

I don't need to be drinking alone . I prefer draft beer (newcastle of course) at bars. although at bars, I'm often drinking alone anyways .

In % terms its probably in the 1-5% range because its isn't much but its not zero. I generally don't keep that close track.

Plus do we count business lunches?? At a typical lunch for two I can spend about 20 bucks on beers ( say 4 bottles of beer at $4-$5 each and another $20-$30 on food) but I expense it all back to the firm.

If that stuff counts I could get to 20% of my "spending" some weeks but again that would depend on what I count as my spending. Does buying a big item count? (say a digital camera)-- how about the bucks my wife spends on groceries that includes food for my son?

It's even better when it's going on someone else's expense account.

                        Around 10%, at a guestimate.

$20? At the local students' pub, that would by me about 4-7 beers, depending on brand. If spread out over a week, that's no health concern at all, according to the info leaflets from the health authorities.

Well you could move into a sales job
. Those guys usually have decent sized expense accounts.

Lawyers, its not that big an account but I can get out to lunch a couple of times a week easily enough on it

yeah that's okay. I'll stick with my technical job. I wouldn't be good at sales. That require you to talk to people. I wouldn't be able to sell anything. I'm too honest.

For the time being, I have 25€ a week that aren't spent on rent and telecommunications (basically: only food). My alcohol expansiture is precisely zero.

When I'll be more free with the money, I may want to afford one or two beers a week. I only get really drunk with my family, and they're the ones who pay (well, I've been more liberal about being drunk with my friends lately, but it's erratic)

Well talking to people is what the "business lunch" is all about. If you don't want to do that, no expense account for you.

Oh and I don't think honesty is a problem for salespeople with good products . I actually have a computer store salesguy I look for now since he has turned me away from buying stuff I don't need or recommended something far cheaper . He might sell less on a given occasion but overall he will do well since people come to trust him
