Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Yeah, I checked it earlier today and the WP entry was under siege; they're arguing about deleting it as either a "hoax" or a "neologism," though as an admitted hoax based around a neologism it might arguably merit inclusion just as a pop-culture tidbit. But they're saying that there have been bigger and more impressive online pranks and this therefore doesn't warrant an entry. Pity, I think it's funny.
I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be embarrassed to be "taken in," though. People do all sorts of stupid crap, and as the newly formed primordial ooze of collective human stupidity the internet is the spawning ground/cemetery of every little bit of it. There have been stranger things than this floating around that were true, I'm sure. I haven't really looked, mind you--I have my sanity to think about. But there's got to be many a phenomenon out there that makes greenlighting look reasonable. Just look at that "bareback" thing; that's apparently real, and that sounds slightly dumber than jerking off with a staple-gun to me. Not to mention the dreaded F word...Stefu knows the thing I speak of.
I don't think its suppsoed to be embarrasing on your end. Your reactions upon learning that it is a hoax aren't very important to me.
My goal was to accidentally create a phenomenon (which sort of takes the accident out of it). We know that there are weirder things and in the planning process, we tried to keep it as soemthing that in concept sounded fairly realistic.
The big goal was media coverage. I guess it was just a fun way to show how overzealous the media can be, and how out of proportion and control they will spin sh!t.
So it didn't work but I was laughnig all the way just looking at the ideas that other people came up with. If you were "in" you would have too.
I don't regret any of it.

So many creative people who are either total dumbasses or just really good at impersonating them.

given how bracelets are so widely worn for so many causes (you can now get an I support the Fairfax County, Virginia, Department of Parks bracelet, Im sorry to say) the bracelet thing sounds kind of on the urban legend side.
Sorry, I'm already supporting Loudoun County, Virginia, Department of Parks with a bracelet.
