Nah, I've checked it's just my USB controllers come up as SIS 7001 for some reeson. My mobo SIS 741 and USB2.0Comment

OK, I got the new scanner installed which made me ask the USB question, it's working fine, and I'm happy.
On top of that, I'm now 100% convinced that I do in fact have USB 2.0, or should I say used to have it...
Because after having installed the scanner, my USB connection is now 6-8 times slower than it used to be, which suggests it's somehow reverted itself to version 1.1.
Today I tried burning a couple of DVD's on my external burner, a process which normally takes about 15 minutes, and now it was 85 minutes for each of the two DVD's. This was the first time I burned after installing the scanner, and I'm using the same media, settings etc.
And when I turn on my external burner, I get a Windows message that a high-speed USB device is using a low-speed hub, which I never got before. I'm using the same hub as always, and even when I tried one of the plugs on front of my computer cabinet, it was the same. (This message doesn't lead to a solution to the problem, it just suggests to try a different port/hub for the burner.)
Trying to update the driver for the burner didn't help either. It said it had the newest driver available on the CD.
This is most exasperating. What do I do to get my burner up to its old speed?Comment
