This space is empty... or is it?

You can still have that memorial the middle, just put the towers next of it.

Burj Dubai is really needless in terms of real estate, but that's true for all Dubai's skyscrapers. Very fascinating, nonetheless.

Exactly! No excuse for not putting them back up.

Even though the WTC towers were iconic, they were ugly.

But this new design is neither beautiful nor iconic. It's a real shame too because of the significance of the space to the country.

Rebuilding the WTC towers is a bad idea, but a better idea than building this design.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

boring tall buildings are at least better than boring short buildings. All buildings are technically boring because all buildings will have no shortage of pretentious artsy critics who say they are ugly or boring. However nobody can complain that the tallest building in the world is short.

It's not inspiring or anything, but then again, there are only a few variations to a skyscrapper.
This one is quite the variation. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai.
