Group attempting to sieze Supreme court Justice, David H. Souter's home for "economic revitiliation"

Considering that it's a strictly private development targeting one specific landowner's property, it's a joke in more ways than one.

EXCEPT that their ruling did not make such a distinction.

There was nothing in the ruling that said that it can't target against a specific individual-it only mentions that the goverment has a right, via eminent domain to take someones property, giving them "market value" for it, for the purpose of economic enchament.

This is in Mass., the most liberal and sane(There is north east liberalism that believes in things like compassion, equality, charity and justice and west coast liberalism like California, i.e.-insane) state in the country, if the town goverment is indicative of the rest of the state, they will surley pass this proposal, just to spite him.

Why not? They didn't have anything in the ruling that it can't be targeted against an individual..... what is he going to do if he dosen't like it, bring it to the supreme court?

      Oh wait.......

In my nightly prayers, I will include a prayer hoping for sucess in this.

They didn't need to make the distinction in the ruling, since there's already plenty of decisional law regarding local zoning and planning processes, the definition of public benefit, etc. SCOTUS opinions are a few pages, not encyclopedias.

No way a government body approves this... so no story.

It does not matter Michael, all they need is the town goverment to make a completley arbitrary decision. Really the only way they could be stopped from doing this by external pressure would be to impeach them.

The proposed development, called "The Lost Liberty Hotel" will feature the "Just Desserts Café" and include a museum, open to the public, featuring a permanent exhibit on the loss of freedom in America. Instead of a Gideon's Bible each guest will receive a free copy of Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged."
Hotel goes bankrupt on printing fees.

Even if they did approve it, the eminent domain could be tied up in court for years on completely different grounds outside the SCOTUS decision. The facts in this case aren't at all square with the facts of the case in the recent SCOTUS decision.

It's mildly entertaining posturing, but that's all. A non-issue otherwise.

And don't forget a local government wouldn't be willing to spend the amount of money it would take to use eminent domain on a house of a Supreme Court Justice. Especially not to prove a political point. That ain't cheap.
