Well, then buy the workout thingy first. Since you probnably won't especially need clothes until next month, it's as good to buy the thing you really enjoy.

Don't you have a date this Friday? Buy the clothes; weights won't do you any good by Friday.

The clothes are for me. Women dont like me because of how I look, they like me because I make them smile. Besides everyone I work with understands what it means to be poor. They wont hold it against me.

I'd buy the clothes first-- you can work out without the weights for a couple more weeks.

I also advocate some saving. Even if you just set aside 10 bucks a pay, not spending that 10 bucks will be a great exercise in budgeting.

i'd go for the clothes, mostly because i'm lazy but also because the birds are going to be more impressed with some nice threads, rather than a week's worth of excerise.

Do push up & pull ups then go for a jog and your work out is done. Spend it on clothes.

Mayhaps I shall open a savings account for just that purpose. Even though it aint much you are right, its a good habit to form.

The weight set Im looking at buying is about $300 (weights+flat bench). That would leave me a few bucks for grocery shopping. Then I would have to wait another two weeks before going clothes shopping.

Clothing will run me about the same amount of monies since I need two new pair of shoes (one excercise one street) , a few pairs of pants, and a few more shirts.

Of course I could use my credit card to buy the clothes this month and pay for it next month, but Im skerd of spending too much money I dont have, even though I have a $300 credit limit.

What do you think is of greater importance? Clothing or workout equipment? They are of about equal importance to me. I feel bad about dressing like a poor man (imagine that, a poor man dressing poorly ) so new clothing would give me greater confidence. However workout equipment would make me spluge all over myself on a daily basis.

*spare me the lectures, Ive heard it all. I will be responsible because I am teh w00t.
Save half of it, and get decent clothes with the rest. You can do a lot of the workout part for free with good calisthenics, running, endurance hikes up local mountains with weighted pack, etc.

Go someplace where there's a low wall or a bench, and assume the pushup position with your feet elevated so more of your body weight is forward.

Those are ass kickers; elevated push ups were one way the drill instructors found to push people and it was very effective. Also try wide arm and close hand push ups along crunches, flutter kicks, dips, fron arm pull ups then back arm pull ups, and finish off with sit ups & squats. Vary your running so that you get hills into the course and if you are feeling like a macho man then go to a stadium (high school stadiums work well for this) then run up and down all the stairs in the entire stadium. It well nearly kill you but your leg muscles will get the work out of a life tme.

Unless you are trying to get HUGE you can do almost everything without any equipment. If you are trying to get huge then don't buy a home gym as they'll never have everything you need and instead get a gym membership.
