OK, it is time for me to buy some more music. I'm going to round out my collection with a few oldies but goodies which I've had on my hard drive but never bought before so the ma can get his due. Tell me what you think and suggest a few additions if you like.

Feist - Let It Die <---- Possibly the best CD of 2005
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico (I can't believe I still haven't bought this CD)
The Pogues - Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash (Another classic which I've had on my hard drive but these guys deserve the money)
The Shins - Oh, Inverted World (Best album of 2001 and one of the first I ever burned. I need a legit copy)
Ugly Casanova - Sharpen Your Teeth (I've actually never heard these guys but I'm told they sound like modest mouse)

I was considering Arab on Radar - Yahweh Or the Highway but their music was just to disjointed. Anyone have any suggestions before I make my final purchase?

            The Aquabats - Charge!!

is a great 2005 album. Very different from their earlier stuff and I really disliked it at first but it grew on me a lot.

I remember that you recommended The Postal Service to me and I love that frigging CD. It seems we have similiar tastes in music so I shall take your advice.

Asher: What do you like about Coldplay? I know music is always highly personal but I've always found Coldplay to be kind of whiny.

Also I think I'll pick up that old dorky band Devo. An oldie but goodie.

Weird, did Dis change his name back to Dissident? When you look at who started the thread, it says Dissident, not Dis.

This is just a really old thread which I bumped. The thread was made back when he was still Dissident instead of Dis.

I can't think of anything released in 2005 that is any good. Everytime I turn on the radio, everything I hear is crap. the one exception is Cigaro by System of a Down. BYOB is okay, but kind of mellow for those guys. The whole new album seems weak. I like melody, but for these guys, I want them to be heavier, not wimpier.
Now that's funny -- every time I've opened a radio or a TV in my life (started when I was 4 or 5 IIRC), all music I've heard has been crap. Does that mean I was born old?

Gorillaz=a mistake to buy. They draw you in with their two hit songs, and then you find that to listening to the rest of them is akin to hearing nails running slowly down a blackboard. Except Fire Coming out of a Monkey's head, where the narrator does pretty well. Everything else? Terrible.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

No it means you have a discerning ear. Most of the music on the radio is suit approved and decidedly safe for all to hear, hence it sucks.

I find that both Gorillaz CD's were very eclectic and musically accomplished. The numerous styles lend to repeated listenings, although I still prefer the first outing.
