    Three Strikes hamstrings the very people we pay to make important decisions: judges. What is the point of legislating out of existence the people necessary to pick apart the nuance of various crimes and criminals? This is a bad idea.

    Why the passion on the subject, Floyd, out of curiosity? You sound as though someone stole something major from you recently.

              Shi, great article. I was actually going to make that point after Floyd's first post. If you have two strikes, what is the point of turning yourself in for a petty theft? Why not go full out and do whatever damage you can in the hopes of escaping because you do life either way.

              However, the punishment should fit the crime. 3 strikes laws are crap because the crimes that some have gone in for 'life' don't deserve that punishment at all.
