  • *puts his hands up star trek style* BUSH!!! Immigration and patriot act......

Bush is telling congress he intends to make the patriot act permanent and with our republican congress that will of course pass..... didn't we tell you this was coming? Once rights are taken away they are NEVER returned.

.....there are also two bills going through congress right now similar to bushes plan about 8 months ago to basically let any foreigner into this country and give them citizenship........

After 6 and a half years of soul searching I have decided bush IS in fact the anti christ.....

There was this guy, who wrote a book.... He talked about power, and how, when him and his buddies finally get it, they will not give it up... Hum...

      Ah, Adolf Hitler.

My favorite one is the next generation, DS9 was great too though..... old series is "eh" and voyager turned into love boat in space.... enterprise has 2 or 3 good episodes, about 90 crappy ones and then 3 or 4 AWSOME ones at end.

I believe there are enough Republican Senators with reservations that the bill may fail.

African Americans never had any rights which were taken away-they were given new rights.

They never had any civil liberties which were taken AWAY either-this is a completley different case.

This is an example of a liberated people having liberties removed VS a downtrodden one which was never legally protected, aquiring them.

If the immigration bill passes, it is the end of our country......... prepare for the middle class to dissapear, overnight.

Well, not 'zackly like WWII. Afterwards, we did let the Japanese Americans out of the camps.

And after WW1 comedians jokes stopped being censored and after the Civil War habeas corpus was put back into effect, and etc etc.

Comedians jokes were being censored when a state of emergency was declared by the president-it was existing legislation, not new legislation. Same for habeus corpus.

                      It's habeas corpus.

Hate to be a doomsayer, but isn't an open-ended "war on terror" awfully convenient for "temporary" restrictions of civil freedoms?
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Let's not forget that we should write to our Congressperson/Senator and tell them that we don't support the PA and we especially don't support people who support the PA.

Works better than whining about it on an internet board.

I see a flaw in this plan wrt some of the people on this board. It would require effort.

                              Reasoned effort, nonetheless.
