If he can't run 1.5 miles in 12 minutes then he's probably not.
I can run 6 miles in about 60 minutes with no real pain in my leg. 6 10 minute miles is not bad.

Instead of running slow miles for an hour consider running 3 8 minute miles instead. After a while get it down to 3 miles in 22 minutes. Then 3 miles in 20 minutes, and you'll be in shape.
Running 10 minute miles does very little to get you in shape (cardiovascular shape)
currently 2.3 10 minute miles does alot to get me in cardiovascular shape, seeing as how I am at ~160 for my heart rate during that...

I'm getting ready to take a physical readiness test. In the past 3 years my performance has declined from outstanding to unsatisfactory. My biggest hurdle(no pun intended) is the run. I have developed some type of pain that occurs when I run fast or longer than 6 miles at a time. What do you guys think would be the best 3 songs to run 1.5 miles in 12 or less minutes?
