  • I just don't see how you can adequately control a typical game with the small number of buttons that remote has. There's only four and two are so far out of the way as to be worthless in any game that requires quick response times. How are you going to play Metroid with that thing?

      • How would I play 4-player NHL games with it?

        Canadians want to know.

That's all well and good, but I just don't get it.

          • Okay after watching the video this has gone from "pretty neat" to "f*cking awesome".

And with a shooter game you essentially have 8 buttons at your disposal: Z1/Z2 on the analog stick, A/B on the main controller, and all four directions on the d-pad.

              Enough talk about shooter games.

How does it play NHL games? How would that make sense or be comfortable?

How does it play Football games?

How does it play racing games?

Gimmiccccck (and yes I've seen the video. The dentist was midly amusing...)

Mark my words, and bump this in 2 years time -- the novelty will wear off and what you'll be left with is a downright tiring controller. I'm the kind of guy who slumps back or lays down on the couch when playing console games...

              • Lets take football for instance:

How about juking left and right by pulling the controller left and right? Spin moves by twisting the controller? Putting a little extra air under the ball as it's thrown by pulling up on the controller? With the analog module you'd have all the buttons you'd need for gameplay - use the d-pad for selecting plays and the other buttons for actions.

And hey, if that doesn't work there's always the gamecube controller that you can use.

                • The gamecube controller is terrible for sports games...

                      • Ixnay, I use stuff like this all the time. I make interactive installation pieces using tech like this, and I've used pieces done by others much better than me. The universal constant with these sorts of things is that people get tired of them. They play with it for a while, go 'oh, that's cool', then move on to something else. An interface that lacks transparency is an absolute killer for interaction. It can work for specific applications (see DDR, though the game is so simple and body-intuitive that the interface can't not work) but it won't have the flexibility to be transparent in a variety of games.

                        • I remember how the EyeToy was going to revolutionize game controls.

Turns out it was a gimmick. Oh noez

That will still work on this machine? Well that solves ny problem then.
