Y'think Lucas is trying to make a political point? A lame political point?

Being as how he planned the story thirty years ago, I really don't think it's a commentary on Bush.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

No, apparently it has more parellels with Vietnam... now if you chose to believe that Iraq is becoming a Vietnam, perhaps you view the movie as political about the present .“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I'm really thinking it has to do with Anakin Skywalker. Haven't seen it yet, so I could be wrong...Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

This and the thing about the writing were both mentioned.
I'm watching it now.

Just got back
1000 times better than the previous 2.
loved the massacre of the jedi. Awesome.
Didn't realize it would be as funny-R2 kicked major ass. Awesome.
In some parts Christenson really looked like Hamil when he was fighting on Cloud City and then on DS2.
Dialogue of anakin sucked. padme dialogue sucked.
:
I have court in 5 hours...hopefully no trials!

Some quick observations (I just came back from the midnight showing):
1. The 9-screen theater complex had 2 screens devoted to ROTS, and both were sold out (roughly 500 people).
2. The opening battle scene — while visually stunning — was also chaotic and confusing. Hard to follow, what with all the "eye candy" of exploding ships in the background.
3. Anakin/Padme dialogue remains wooden.
4. I got a kick out of how Mace Windu turned Sidious' dark side lightning back on the bastard, aging him 30 years in seconds. Of course, then Anakin showed up, cut Windu's arm off, and Sidious finished the Jedi master off with a blast of lightning.
5. The Jedi slaughter. Nothing more be said.
6. "66." Two numbers that will haunt the surviving Jedi until the end of time.
7. Great Anakin/Obi-wan lightsaber scene on Mustafar.
8. Nice juxtaposition at the end, showing the birth of the twins and the birth of Darth Vader in all his blackness.
9. I like how Lucas left the window open that not all of the Jedi had been killed. A great relief to the expanded universe (EU), I imagine.
10. Thought it was a bit lame how Darth Tyrannus (Count Dooku) met his end.
11. The deaths of General Grievious and the Separtist Council were good.
12. I, too, thought Lucas might have been making a bit of political commentary regarding the current state of affairs in our world — but, hell, the Emperor had to gain power somehow and how it was explained was quite plausible. Seems the Jedi — read: MODERATES (heh) — weren't all that respected by Republic citizens.
That's about it for now ...

I'll just wait for a 'special edition' to come out here on DVD.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

I never understood why people get so upset over it. WHO CARES?! And as for being revisionist... so? Since he created it out of his brain in the first place, I think he can revise as wanted .
Hell, I'm happy that I get to watch Star Wars whenever I want in my own house on DVD. Some people act like its their right and Lucas is horrible for changing a movie that he created. Frankly I think those people need to reexamine their lives so they can pinpoint when it all went wrong.
I have no problem with ownership, and I recognize that ultimate authority rests with the creator. When Thomas Harris opted to have Clarice Starling run away with Dr. Lecter in the Hannibal novel, many people were upset. Jodie Foster chose not to reprise the role because of this, feeling it was a violation of all she knew about Clarice. My wife sided with Foster, I sided firmly with Harris. Harris also added something in Hannibal that helps explain his, um, inclinations, whereas in Silence of the Lambs (novel), Lecter says he was made as he is. I prefer the SotL explanation (nature) versus Hannibal (nurture), and disagreed strongly with Harris' decision. Ultimately, he had the right to make such changes as he felt necessary, whereas I claim the right to be critical of his choices. It's all about being free, baby.
Hamill, Ford & Fisher all seemed like they were trying (the Brits were great, as usual).
And the Brits all thought the entire movie was a joke and was going to flop. They didn't take it seriously in the slightest... amusingly you think they were the best .
