I'm heating up the popcorn and meltin' the butter as we speak. Though I don't really care in the slightest about either of the two men, seeing the clash between the hip young American Senator and the hardened survivor of several Parliaments should be amusing.

A lot of Republicans are going to need to start thinking up some very good excuses.

The Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow arrived yesterday in Washington demanding an apology from the Senate for what he called the "schoolboy dossier" passed off as an investigation against him.

"It was full of holes, full of falsehoods and full of value judgments that are apparently only shared here in Washington," he said at Washington Dulles airport.

He told Reuters: "I have no expectation of justice ... I come not as the accused but as the accuser. I am [going] to show just how absurd this report is."

Hur hur. He's really pissed off. This should be fun.

Should be amusing either way. Doubly so if they actually have the goods on him. I'd laugh my ass off if the Senate hands the results of thier investigation off to the Brits to have him arrested on his return trip.

I give the advantage in pure debate skills to Galloway, as a hardened veteran of the Commons. This isn't a fair fight, however, so I have to give the nod to Coleman. Galloway is up to his eyeballs in sleaze when it comes to Saddam's regime and I can't help but think that Coleman, as a former prosecutor, would not go after Galloway if he didn't have the goods. Should be interesting.

A lot of the "sleaze" tends to wither when exposed to direct scrutiny. Like the one where he was supposed to have urged Iraqis to kill coalition soldiers.

I'll readily admit to not knowing much about Galloway or the allegations against him. I just get the impression from what I have heard that there's definitely reason to suspect him of ties to Saddam's regime. I guess we'll see...
