What an original thread. I mean we have never had a thread where non-americans get together and have a circle jerk and complain and try to make fun of Americans. This is just an earth shattering development.
Coming up next: Even more attack against white trash dixie strawmen.
Stay tuned!

Our national anthem is based off a drinking song“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Excerpt
In 1814, Francis Scott Key wrote new words for a well-known drinking song, "To Anacreon in Heaven," to celebrate America's recent victory over the British. However, only in 1931, following a twenty-year effort during which more than forty bills and joint resolutions were introduced in Congress, was a law finally signed proclaiming "The Star Spangled Banner" to be the national anthem of the United States.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Yep, temnokozhij is fine, but it also makes me laugh... sounds like a new word conjured in an attempt to be politically correct. I guess I'm too used to negr, and to reading that in books.Originally posted by Az
Actually, I've always found both to be offensive sounding. If one has to mention race, words like "dark-skinned = temnokoji" are the best. I don't find a problem with 'cherniy' myself, but it's not really for me to judge.
In adventure books translate to Russian, negr is always the normal word, and chernij is the word that slavers and others use to show a disdainful attitude, along with chernomazij...Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

There's nothing wrong in being politically correct in this case.
