in addition to some nebulous training that we some how managed to give a guy that hated America even then, we gave them around a THOUSAND state of the art anti-aircraft missiles. They only used 300 of them. According to you Osama would have 700 stinger missiles at his disposal.

A petri dish for a university is not a weapons system, that took Iraqi expertise to make it one. No, by and large Saddam was a Soviet client, with Soviet,French, and Chinese hardware making up over 90% of his equipment, in a period in time when the US had no problem lending credit to shady charaters, and no problem selling advanced weaponry to people, and were the world leader in such exports.

          • If FDR could supply Stalin during WWII, and this was a "good" thing, don't complain about Reagan arming unsavory types against communism. However, if you do complain about Reagan, also complain about FDR.

              No . . . . . .

get off your lazy conservative ass and go the archived threads where I and others have discussed those two things about Reagan a thousand times already.

Mr. Fun, lets have some fun. Why don't you make an unfair accusation against Reagan that I can react to?

                    • Why would I make an unfair accusation that essentially would not be substantiated by any facts?

according to me, many of those 700 stinger missles would no longer work because they are 20 years old. you dont think there is any attrition on those guys?

read the whole article. we gave him chemical and biological weapons, and the steel to make a delivery system. just cuz others do it, doesnt mean we dont share the blame.

They said there were serious violation of human rights. This is the branch of the OAS that looks into human rights violations. They don't need to link to other Central and South American human rights abuses in a report dealing with Panama. Serious violations means one of the worst. I doubt they say it for everyone.
again, on this report, there is no indication on the relative condition of torrijos 'human right abuses' to other 3rd world leaders.

Anyone of them. Now are you going to go out and read it or accept what someone says from it as fact until you read the book? Thought so.
if you cant disprove it, you have to accept it. would i run out and read it? maybe, maybe not. but i could also find another reputable source, or attack his backround, and use that to refute it.

Um... no. We armed the muhjaddin, you know, the Northern Alliance? There is a reason they became the government after the USSR was booted out. It took years after that until the Taliban kicked the Northern Alliance out of most of Afghanistan.
ummmm YES, not only did we arm the muhjaheddin, through ISI, we ALSO armed the taliban through ISI. (who was totally reliant on CIA money and training, we created the ISI) years? by 1994, they have unified the southern half of the country and expelled the various warlords. and again, theres another fallacy. not all muhjaheddin were northern alliance. in fact many muhjaheddin fought FOR the taliban, and they fought against each other until the taliban came in and unified everyone (both with and against them) in fact, there are many instances were northern alliance commanders switched sides because of bribes.

The weapons will last for 5 years when stored in good conditions, he had ample opportunity to use them.

No one gave them chemical or biological weapons, many people had a large helping hand, such as the 500 ton precursor ingredient deal Belgium worked out with Saddam, but that was Iraqi expertise that made the weapons.

                              • Reagan at a news conference, Yale University:

                                Q. Governor, do you think homosexuals should be barred from public office in the United States ?

Reagan: Certainly they should be barred from the Department of Beaches and Parks.

Can't quite make up his mind- or hasn't yet found someone to do it for him:

                                or did he mean:

" I would have voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Act of 1964."
