I concur with everything said from before. Fun country, Catholicism ruins the place, no real middle class.

I haven't met any filipinos who want the US back, but a large number wish for a leader like Marcos again. He was corrupt, but so are everyone in power now. Atleast Marcos built up the countries infrastructure.

Mostly they just hate Koreans though.

I'm Canadian, but living in Manila. Got transfered here by my company.

I agree that the Korean look and culture is big here, but my average coworker or neighbor doesn't have a lot of nice things to say about the Koreans residing in Manila. They find them rude and overbearing.

Anyway, as for Marcos, I find it depends who you talk to in a major way. I find anybody who has managed to make it to the middle class and get educated often says nice things of when Marcos was still in power, and resents how little the government does for the people now a days. The lower class are just happy to get bribed for their vote. I've met very very well informed few people who are actually happy with the job Noynoy is doing. It's just the Aquino dynasty can do no wrong.
