  • Hey! Let's Nation Build and Free Cyprus!

How should asia minor look? I'm thinking we're going about the whole Iraq question wrong. If we trade Iraq to the Turks, minus the northern Kurdish area, in exchange for the Kurdish area of Turkey, plus Cyprus, (which we give to the Greeks) everyone wins.

The Iraqis get rid of us infidels and get to be part of a Turkish democracy.

The Kurds get a homeland which includes the northern oil fields.

The Kurdish homeland will be a major headache for Iran due to their large Kurdish population.

The US can get its forces the heck out of a difficult situation and go get NK before its too late.

The Turks get a portion of Iraq including the southern oil fields. They can use the revenue to first relocate the Turks from Cyprus.

The Greeks on Cyprus get the whole island and get rid of the Turks.

    Everyone is happy!

As a related idea, I think we should give the Philippines to the Japanese, so that they get room for their saturated population. The Japanese will give the money necessary to relocate all Filipinos and Filipinas in Papuasia New Guinea. Everybody wins

KH, it's better than Saddam. That and they should have been nicer to us.

Spif, there is no problem in the Phils. No need to nation build there.

Turkey isn't much of a democracy.

              "You're kidding, right?"

Rufus, actually the Phils has it pretty much together for a third world country with 5 million muslims.

"Turkey isn't much of a democracy."

Che, I have to agree with you here. :gulp: However it is a secular elected gov in a muslim country and isn't a big sourse of terrorists. That in itself is a ****ing miracle.

Uhm, yes it is. Certainly more so than Italy at least.

BTW, Lancer, Turks have lived on Cyprus since 1571, so kicking them off isn't really an decent option.

In a democracy, the military can't outlaw political parties and legally overthrow the government.

Even fundies have a right to be represented by a party of their own views.

Has this happened after the cold war?

Both Germany and Finland have bans on nazi parties. Are these countries democracies y/n?
