I doubt it Az, it sounds like a mutation that, because of continuous inbreeding, has been concentrated until in this particular strain of goat is the main gene for this locus. Truly bizarre though, although it would be interesting to know how this has happened. You have to admit that as a defence mechanism it is pretty crap...rather than run you just collapse...
lots of animals do it. It does sound counterintuitive, but I've seen similar techniques work in birds ( they did hold still afterwards, though - but such a collapse might be enough to escape the claws of an eagle, or a condor , if you're a little lamb.
Vultures do it too, absolutely brilliant how they mislead lions with it.

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
No, you had better not. Mine is far more innocent.

I have seen these goats in Calistoga/St Helena in California.
They faint when loud aircraft pass over head, or if cars backfire, or when Provost passes wind after a vindaloo/lager Saturday. But the latter would apply to most life forms on earth....

Because the mutation only occured once they were domesticated animals. Then the falling over becomes very useful for the farmer, 'cos it makes them easy to catch, so he makes sure to keep a population of fainting goats alive and breeding.
