Do you live in Texas? Get an Anti-Tank gun. Hell, she probably wont even have to shoot. The invader will just run away when he sees her with it.

Of course, have it bolted up to any balcony, ready and loaded. Way to protect the kids.

I'll vote for the shotgun, as well.

Use 00 buck (as mentioned before), not sabots, since they negate one of the shotgun's primary advantages in a home defense situation: the ability to hit your target even if you're too scared to shoot straight.

.40 calibur (either glock or S&W)

most police forces are using this because it has sufficient stopping power and doesn't have overpenetration (going through the target). And it's good for female police officers because it doesn't have the recoil of a .45.

How about a backpack filled with C4? When the wifey wakes up to find a strange man prowling around the house she whips out the bag, grabs the trigger then marches through the house shouting: "We're all going to die! We're all going to f*****g die! When I let go of this switch everyone within a block of this house will die!"

Shotgun. And teach her how to use it. If you're really worried should also consider a security system, something that will alert your wife and the police when someone breaks in so she wont be caught off gaurd.


Also I would reccomend against getting a dog. Unless you plan on raising it in an unethical manner domestic dogs are kind and cuddly with all people even people trying to kill you.

If it's for stay-at-home use, definitely a shotgun, 12 gauge pump. There's something so intimidating about the sound of a shotgun pump being worked that she may not even need to fire it.

I'd only recommend 9mm if they use hollowpoints.
