Uh guys arent we forgetting something, like how this 13 yo got pregnant in the first place???... You all have assumed that the father did it and that isnt written anywere. The kid is in foster care but how long has she been in foster care and who got her pregnant at the age of 13? If ya ask me this should be more of a social issue then a political one.

Sorry, babies are too cute. Can't we just shoot the politicians?? Sure, it wouldn't solve the abortion problem, but it'd be a lot more fun.

Well, those kids didn't do nothing, anymore than the kids that we routinely kill in the womb. I'm just saying, if we are going to murder babies, lets get some fun and financial benefit out of it.

sure why not just send our kids to school with a big red bulls eye pinned to their shirts that way we know that all the wackoos can have some fun picking off these kids

You have a Constitutional right to abortion; you don't have one for the rest of those things (well except having sex, and the state can't prevent you from that either)>

A minor has a constitutional right to consent to an invasive medical procedure without even parental notification when we rightly judge them unfit to even vote? Are they any other procedures that can consent to on thier own?

Maybe a look at the opinion cited might help clear things up for me. Could someone link to it?

It's called Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey .

The right to vote has a valid countervailing interest for minors (ie, the reason to prevent minors from voting passes Constitutional muster).

Do we normally let minors consent to invasive procedures sans at least parental notification?

It looks like I was right:

Among the new provisions, the law required informed consent and a 24 hour waiting period prior to the procedure. A minor seeking an abortion required the consent of one parent (the law allows for a judicial bypass procedure). A married woman seeking an abortion had to indicate that she notified her husband of her intention to abort the fetus. These provisions were challenged by several abortion clinics and physicians. A federal appeals court upheld all the provisions except for the husband notification requirement.

                        ....

The new standard asks whether a state abortion regulation has the purpose or effect of imposing an "undue burden," which is defined as a "substantial obstacle in the path of a woman seeking an abortion before the fetus attains viability." Under this standard, the only provision to fail the undue-burden test was the husband notification requirement.

And the Supreme Court ruled that it was an undue burden on her Constitutional right to have both parents notified without having a bypass.

If you notice the decision it says, consent of ONE parent WITH a judicial bypass procedure (ie, no consent is ok with the judge's go ahead).

I blame Oerdin's citing a non-existant case for starting this silly arguement. Though you might have just said that to begin with and spared me the few seconds of internet research.

                                What fun is that?

You know I love torturing people by not coming to the point immediately (it drove MrFun absolutely crazy!) .
