Good Pekka. Good Pekka. Serve the Starchild well. Dance for your master....
The generation of topend mobles currently being released have cameras in th 1.3 - 2 megapixel range.
Just to prove what can be done, Samsung released a phone with a 7 megapixel camera.
Samsung is promoting its SCH-S250, whose built-in 7-megapixel digital camera offers higher resolution than many dedicated cameras. Keen photographers will appreciate its 3x optical zoom, 5x digital zoom and 16-million-colour screen display. The handset can even be fitted with a compact telephoto lens.Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

In order to be as good as 35mm film a digital camera must be 16-17 megapixels. The highest end digital camera are just reaching that point now and it will be 2-3 year before the technology filters down to the rest of the market but once that happens then film is essentially going to go the way of the buggy whip.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Nokia's made a lovely digital picture frame that shows pictures stored on a memory card I believe.Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Now of course for highly professional/dedicated individuals, the top range camera will be better than the top range phone. The dedicated music player will store more than the phone. But for the vast majority of the market, someone finds a way to squeeze a handheld gadget into a phone. They'll be everyday media devices that will be a swiss army knife of the digital world. Why not add in a Swiss army knife?

How much do you want to bet that the iPod Phone will be as wildly successful as the Nokia nGage?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Your point is (besides having nose so deep in brands that it stinks all the way here)?
iPod phone. As if that's a product. nGage is a product, and not too bad of a product, however almost obsolete and total failure and flop. iPod is a succesful product. So is cell phones.
So, you go and pick the only huge failure of the family, and go on comparing it to make belief product. So.. your point is.. what?
It's not just Nokia, everyone is making the same move, which I would say is a smart one. I'm not a big fan of cameras on phones, but this one is something useful.
Like I said before, it's the future. It's a mobile device. You call it phone, but that's because you are not seeing the vision, while on the other hand if it was up to you, the world would be shaped like an apple and bill gates would ram everyones butts when the morning shift begins
Just joking. But anyway, I hope you see, that your comparison is not only failing in validity, but also completely sidetracking and .. well, not very good one.
And as for a device that can do everything, can't do a single thing well? That's what I brought up earlier. However, how much does it really have to develop anymore to have similar capabilites with iPod? They are different products, and can't be compared, but mobile device that has 4 gigs of storage, not to mention better chances of exploring future applications to it.. as far as that particular details go (aka what really matters), then that's the same, right? Comparing to iPod mini. Of course, the capabilities will go through the roof, and mobile devices and iPods (which is a mobile device too, kind of) will have the same potential for playing music. Exactly the same. And then technically it doesn't really matter, except that the phone one will be more expensive because it has more features than iPod. So you would base your evaluation on 'well iPod sells more'. What about when this is normal feature in all phones. Would you like to then compare iPod, and cell phones, which one sells more?Yes, you can also include Creative and all other players of this kind to make it fair.
In da butt.

It seems those who say that lack of landlines limits broadband have not heard of unwired internet access. Why build expensive wires everywhere when you can send the data through the air?
If my girlfriend didn't actually use the landline to make long-distance calls, I would not even have the landline.I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

There's no way the device looks like it has a nice, usable interface for music. The problem is a mobile device is small, and interface demands are different.
Why should my "2" button double as a down arrow and also as a scroll button for my mp3 player?
It just becomes clunky and annoying.
Camera phones are IMO far more likely to be successful than MP3 players. There are lots of opportunities where I say "I wish I had a camera!" for something simple and stupid. Camera just requires point-and-click as well.
Not to mention, the battery life will suck on the device, or it'll be massive.
Either way, this product will flop just as badly as nGage did. Nokia doesn't get it, and that's why their marketshare is shrinking to competitors like Samsung, who do get it."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Nokia doesn't get it, that players are not a good idea? then how come everyone is doing the same? I disagree, I tihnk it's a must do thing. Unlike cameras, that has proven to be succesful idea.
The only problem I see, is what you mentioned, battery life.. Where Ericsson is going with flash memory you can change, Nokia is going with the HD. I personally think, that it's risky to go with HD at this point, affecting the battery life. People want performance, and performance in people's head is battery life time, not necessarily how much 1s and 0s it can process. HD might be the future, but right now, it's too damn risky IMO. Too much area where you can fail, like well, not being able to solve the battery life problem soon.
As for size, I don't think the problem is there, if you sort out the interface problems. What you can do is put on a navi-button of some sort. Usability is of course top priority.
I think there's definitely a way to make it, but will it be in the first real models? Nah I don't think so.. I think they will suck, but when they have to put more focus on interface, battery life etc, it'll be nice.In da butt.
