How many have Boeing received? Pointless argument. They've both received loads. Hopefully reduce them both to nothing though...

But total development costs were £6 billion apparently.

      Pointless argument.
No, the argument isn't pointless, considering that inasmuch as Boeing is receiving subsidies, I'm derisive of those as well.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

International business travel is increasing again. The key to the A380 success will be how fast airlines will be able to get out of their current 747 lease contracts and the load % they need to run the A380 profitably (with the exception of a few national airlines that are subsidized and do not need to worry about profits).
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

          Ok fine then.

Subsidise them all if it means we get cool stuff like this. Woo!

As we say in Europe, the bigger the more beautiful.

              Cool looking plane.

You can already fit 800 in a 747 (but really crowded). The A380 is bigger, as in way bigger but is supposed to field 555 passengers in typical configuration.
It's also useable as a freighter given its huge carrying capacity, I don't remember which company bought some for that purpose.

Yes around 840 bodies at a crashsite

Though the standard version will have something like 550 seats or so.

Ata, imagine if a terrorist got hold of such a huge thing with so many people!

I guess if Cathay or Philippine Airlines buys them I'll eventually be on one. I think I'll wait until they work the bugs out.

Really crowded as in "isn't going to fly" maybe.. you have to remember that humans need space to put their legs somewhere.
I read the max for a 747 are 568 passangers.

                              Four trips in 7 years...

However we hope to go every winter starting soon. We might end up going in December, though nothing is sure. Wanna go if we go?

We're still working out the cost for staying in our house, but it will be somewhere around $200 for a month, including meals eaten in the house.
