Long as you get your 3 squared and Poly time every day it's all good though screw everybody else.

As far as you go Patroklos, you're "getting dirty" thing is a joke when you're not the one getting dirty and the average Iraqi person's life has gotten worse since we "got dirty," so really what has been accomplished? NOTHING.
Whatever Ted, when you go over there and see your ranting has no bearing in reality, or invest anything but a few mouse clicks and your spare pocket change to a cause, get back to me.
And find me one poll where Iraqis think they are worse off now than before.
Happy hunting

I however don't really care what you have and have not posted on a given topic in the past. Nor do I have the smallest desire to go trolling through to forums to find if you have posted on a topic before. You can add it to the list of things that don't trigger an alarm from my precious gives a ****.
You're not really posting anything the rest of us haven't pointed out countless times already.
That must be why Pat is using suffering from the sanctions as an attack on you.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio
Wait, though. If you cared for "ordinary Iraqis" pre-war, and you opposed war... what is it that you did? Wept a little bit every day for them?
I mean, seriously... what options were there? Three:
1) War
2) Continued sanctions
3) End of sanctions
Personally, I was ok with either a modified 2 or even possibly 3 - although of course 3 had some downside possibilities that the US government would never had gone for.
Neither 2 nor 3, however, would have resulted in much of an improvement in the lives of ordinary Iraqis. So let's get off that whole thing. The jury's still out on 1.
The only option is one, if that was your sole motive.

You obviously do care if you're taking this much time to post about it.
And Pat will use anything and everything to post attacks on me because he's always climbing uphill kinda like you who want come out of your turtle shell to actually show your face you just kinda snipe and run away.

I could see a humanitarian argument for going with a modified sanctions/oil-for-food system. The premise would have to be, however, that a war & aftermath would be bloody enough to outweigh removing Saddam.
The war wasn't very bloody for our forces, and frankly neither has the occupation (when viewed in context), but the most conservative estimate possible (Bush's) puts the Iraqi dead at 30k. I figure it's most likely higher.
How many people was Saddam killing per year, and what are those numbers based upon?
Anyway, was never one to justify a given policy toward Iraq primarily on its benifit to Iraqis. I wanted their welfare to be a consideration, but not the driver.
Well apparently you not allowed to have multiple reasons, only some monolithic motivation.

I'll give you two.
Here's a poll from ABC News just out in the past week:
Other views, moreover, are more negative: Fewer than half, 46 percent, say the country is better off now than it was before the war. And half of Iraqis now say it was wrong for U.S.-led forces to invade in spring 2003, up from 39 percent in 2004.
Poll, iraq, where things stand, optimism, insurgency, united states, poll, Article, 1389228
Here's an older but recent poll from USA Today
#3 shows that they think they invasion did more harm than good. #4 and #5 are inconclusive either way unless you factor in the Kurdish numbers which TOTALLY prop up the "more good" responses.

That could be said about both sides of the political fence, P. Liberals generalize about conservatives & their motivations, but geez, you're telling me Rush Limbaugh doesn't talk about the monolithic (and dastardly, of course) Left??
They are referred to specifically by Limbaugh as the "Coordinated Left"
