  • Proof that the BBC is not a legitimate news organization

I've been saying this for years. Them along with the NY Times are shameful news organizations.

Apparantly the BBC is in the business of creating news.

ARgh, it appears you need a password to get on this site.

Long story short, the BBC planted some hecklers at a conservative party function. Granted this isn't as bad as Bush having a fake reporter on his staff, but I don't consider the Bush administration trustworthy either.

I realised that Harper had a tough row to hoe, but even the BBC is against him?

You always have to go the extra mile and ruin a potentially valid point, don't you?

The NYT may have had its scandal, but it's still one of the greatest news sources out there. You will find better, more accurate coverage of national and international news there than you will in any other American newspaper. There's nothing shameful about that.

Can we get another cite on this? One tabloid reporting something just isn't going to do it for me.

biased news is not news. I feel the same way about conservative newpapers and channels (such as Fox News)

Is it too much to ask for a news organization to remain impartial and neutral?

How is the news reporting of the NYT biased? Don't conflate the editorial page with the news section.

Oh, and I'm with Boris... the NY Times is one of the best news sources in the US. It is no more biased than any other media outlet in the country.

Tory anger over BBC heckler show

The Tory party has demanded an apology from the BBC over a programme which it says encouraged heckling at a meeting where Michael Howard was speaking.
The Sunday Telegraph says it accused the BBC of "serious misconduct" after producers equipped hecklers in Horwich, near Bolton, with radio microphones.

But the corporation said it was making a legitimate programme on the history and art of political heckling.

However, it said it would be investigating the complaint thoroughly.

                  Slogans

In a letter to Helen Boaden, the director of BBC News, Guy Black, the head of Conservative communications said the event was "pre-meditated" and intended to embarrass Mr Howard and disrupt his speech.

He said hecklers at the meeting in Horwich had shouted out slogans such as "Michael Howard is a liar" and "You can only trust Tony Blair".

Mr Black said staff were in breach of BBC producer guidelines.

But the corporation said the producers were making a programme for BBC Three called The History of Heckling.

In a statement it said the producers had observed hecklers at the meetings of other parties and that the hecklers were not under the direction of the BBC.

"The incident at the Michael Howard meeting only plays a small part in the overall programme," the statement said.

"However, we will be investigating the complaint very thoroughly and will be replying in due course."

But the corporation said it was making a legitimate programme on the history and art of political heckling.

...by planting hecklers in a political event during an election campaign?

                  Oh, ****, that's funny ****!

Um... it seems the Tory party is only demanding an apology for ENCOURAGING hecklers, not planting them. It seems the hecklers were there anyway, the BBC just equipped them with radio microphones. The BBC did not control the hecklers, just miked them.

Let's see if that bears out.

The telegraph isnt what I would describe as a tabloid. I will pop down the shop and see what the papers have to say about it.

The Telegraph is a reputable broadsheet paper. Its also a Tory paper.

And the BBC is noted for its unswerving dedication to the cause of promoting Tony Blair.
