My mother once told me I'm 1/16th indian. If I can prove it they'll definately give me a job at the local indian casino. Since my wife and father in law both work there they are hesitant to hire me. These jobs are good wampum and have excellent benefits. So, is there a genetic test I can take to prove my heretige?
If so, how would one go about it?
My family on my mother's side keeps pretty good records of their family history. But they were a little ashamed of the Indian (native american) blood in their family back in those days. People were pretty racist back then.

Also check out some geneology forums online. It's just possible one of your relatives has already done some or all of the work. For example, I found a family tree of one part of my family online.
Also, talk to the local tribe. They may be able to help, or may give you some info that would let you drop it, for example if you have to be a member of their tribe, instead of just any Indian.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I just found out recently that my fathers family was one of the people who came with the original mormon settlers to Utah.
It was only in the early 20th century some of them went to California (where my dad was born). But all the family reunions are held in Utah. I've only been to one when I was a kid. I admit I'm not close to my extended family on my father's side.
And my mom's side was Catholic from the state of Maryland. And my great grandfather was indian. I have no clue what tribe. I'm not familiar with the tribes in Maryland (east of D.C. on the Patuxtant river). I'm more familiar with tribes in the southwest.

He doesn't necessarily have to have been a local. If he was "pure" blood, then you're 1/8th, and eligible for tribal membership if you can prove it. In addition to being able to work on the Rez, you're also eligible for all sorts of Federal benefits, provided you're a member of a recongized nation.
Bunnygrrl's grandmother used to say she was half Indian (other half being Black), and so BG thought she was 1/8th Indian. As I kept pressing her for info, so she could get Federal scholarships, we discovered that really she (her grandmother) was half white, but was ashamed of being half white and so said her folks were both half Indian. Interestingly, a LOT of Black people have significant amounts of Indian ancestry. Lotta race-mixing between Indians and Blacks in the South.
Why would I want to work for a crappy Indian casino when I can work for a crappy Las Vegas casino?. And I have worked for a Las Vegas casino. I had good benefits, but I hate casinos. I doubt I'll work for one again.

You're only allowed to work in an Indian casino if you proof Indian blood?
Isn't that a bit racist??Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

Maybe, but it's more of affirmative action for Native Americans. Only Native Americans can work on reservations.
