  • 911 dispatcher gets in trouble for joke

Did anyone see this on the news?
Apparently, some woman called 911 cause her 12 year old daughter was being unruly. The dispatcher jokingly said, “OK. Do you want us to come over to shoot her?”

Did the 911 dispatcher behave unprofessionally? And who calls 911 cause their kid is misbehaving?
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Eh, their job is to provide help, not entertainment. The guy should've been reprimanded, what shouldn't have happened, however, is this nothing story becoming national news.

What exactly did she want the cops to do?

I'm guessing that the one about the woman calling 911 because Harveys wouldn't put what she wanted in her hamburger has already been posted?
            What?

Personally I think he should have hung up on her after mocking her.

911 operators should NOt be making jokes. What the guy needed to do is tell the woman that she should contact her local precinct directly, and maybe even given her the number, than moved on cause that sure as hell was not a 911 emergency.

Why not? Personally, I'd just hang up on them to clear the line for real emergencies but I can understand the impulse when someone calls in obviously wasting your time.

911 can make jokes in the office, but should not be doing it online- at the least, its a waste of their time. As for hanging up, that would also be wrong.

Man, lets keep you far way from a 911 dispatch post.

So what do we have here, a mother unable to deal with a child and a dispatcher unable to deal with her situation

Both behaved unprofessionally I'd be tempted to conclude.

The executive should imprison the mother, her child, the father, their whole family and the dispatcher alltogether
