But, by doing so, we lose crucial details. The model fails to approximate the real world within a reasonable margin of error Man and Woman is not very useful as a descriptive model, and it should never be used as a predictive model.

And better approximations exist.

Look at the picture space05 posted. I don't look anything like the five Men pictured, despite having the same set of genitalia and the same taste in the genitalia of a partner. If I may continue judging books by their covers, our interests, talents, and skills are very different. Something that engages my imagination and my intellect would leave them bored ****less, and vice versa.

Quite a wordy way to make the point that individuals are different.

However, groups of them based upon similar characteristics will exhibit... similar characteristics. What's so rough about that concept?

Sure you lose some "real world" subtle differences - but here's the thing. The "real world" is comprised of 10/\66 atom, Earth has 10/\49 atoms, but my brain has only 10/\11 neurons, meaning that any "real world" percieved by you and I is nothing but a model forced upon us by lack of information processing power.

So, chill. The subdivision of people into "men" and "women", even if a mental construct, is still a useful tool for making ones way around this world (which still has but two genders (as far as humans are concerned.))
