Nah... I'm not crazy... I just appreciate the cool overcast days because I live in the sunshine state of a sunburnt country and I shrivel up like a prune and perspire like niagara falls everytime I make contact with direct sunlight. I must be a genetic throwback to my pre-colonial scottish ancestors...

Of all the places a solarphobe could be born I had to be born in Australia. How about we trade places Starchild?

        Move to Victoria or Tassie.

I'm not madly keen on sun, but Tassie always seems to be enjoying rain or a howling gale even when Victoria has bright sunshine.

        And it snows there too.

Australia? It's like Canada without the snow. Been there, done that, and prefer to keep the snow.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Actually, the wife gets all paranoid about cancer everytime I tan. The sun here is strong enough to burn you on overcast days, BTW. If we hit the beach today, I know she's gonna make me put sunscreen on.

Canada without the snow? Thankyou... I like it when people compare Australia to Canada. Better than being called "America's Deputy Sherriff" (a tiny faux paz made by our idiot of a Prime Minister).

.... and I could certainly settle for Melbourne. Better than Brisbane.... bloody banana benders

                  Like Sydney, only with culture.

You'd have to live somewhere like Victoria- or possibly Perth.

Northern Territory is too moist and hot and South Australia is very dry and hot too.

Canberra is like a broken arm, except that a broken arm can heal. New South Wales is good in parts.

The area belongs to the Cleveland National Forest. It was created by Teddy Roosevelt around 1909 or so but the total area of the national forest was cut in half around 1920 or so because developers and gold miners wanted access to the area. It's still the largest National Forest in the Lower 48 though even with 50% of its original area lost. Luckily, over the last century or so the state and county have stepped in making Anza-Borrego State Park (once part of the Cleveland National Forest but taken out 80 years ago) and Ranch Cuyamaca State Park (high mountain woodland at its best with everything from pine to cyprus groves present due to the 100 inches per year of rain) plus a handful of county parks. All in all half of the county is protected parkland and the county is larger then the states of Delaware, Connecticut, and Rhode Island combined.

Dude, I live in Florida, next to the world's largest swamp. Heat and humidity I can take. My bigger concern is Australia's racism, having a Black wife and all.

If that's your biggest concern, then you should be carefree.
