Taxachusetts wrongly named? - Tax burden per US state
On cue in order to prove how wrong JohnT and the other's are the Republicans in the US House of Representatives today voted to abolish the Federal Estate Tax. Let's see... we're facing the worst deficit in the history of civilization, the dollar keeps declining in value because of our utterly massive deficits (both trade and budgetary), and what do the Republicans do? They eliminate a t tax which only effects the wealthest 1% of Americans.
Proof positive that Republicans are only out to reward the wealthy few who bride them (er, contribute to them) and they don't give a rat's ass about anyone else. Democrats are guilty to a much lesser extent but I will choose the lesser of two evils any day. The Republican party is rotten to the core.
I read in one of those communist books like "Lies and the Liars who tell them" that after a Democrat senator offered a provision that exempted every one with an estate under $100 million from the tax Republicans still voted down that provision opting for a full elimination. Someone who is smarter than me probably has the whole story.
What is rwrong with that. Is there some provision in the Consititution that states rich people are somehow liable to pay for everyone else.
If the people who make under a number don't have to pay, in a fair democratic system nobody should.
I just love you guys masking your greeding theivery behind the "greater good" for all catch phrase.

Despite what Che says, this country has been nowhere near revolution since the end of the Civil War. Even during the depression.

if action was not taken, there would have been a revolution
have you looked at the votes of people at that time?
it would have either been a communist one, or a fascist one to block a communist one..

My party is not the one with the stigma of despising the average joe.
But I do see your point.

This is not supported by anything but wishful thinking.

No, Patroklos, Jon's right. If FDR hadn't acted chances are this country would be far more socialist than it is now. The New Deal may have been the only thing that prevented a Socialist third party from making some headway, as it did in Western European countries.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Once again, all speculative on your part. What was the socialist election percentages in the previous election?
And of course we were going to have a world war regardless, so no, no cance of a revolution.
