  • A month sans smokes.

Well, it has been a month since I had a cigarette.

I thought I would have been climbing walls, but it has proved surprisingly easy. I still fancy a smoke roughly once a day, but it is not a physical craving, and the tax that the fascist Canadian scum government has put on the things has made it too pricey to smoke.

I might bum the odd one at a party some time, but I don't really feel like smoking all the time any more.

And I thought quitting was supposed to be hard.

    Lucky bastard.

Thanks to a break-up and my insanely stressful BFA re-audition, I'm up to almost pack a day...I've never had a pack a day before, up until these past few weeks.

Hopefully I'll be in the mood to quit soon :\

Look at how much it costs.

That's what stopped me smoking. I could have probably afforded a new Powerbook every 18 months if I hadn't smoked.

Based on my cigarette purchases in Boston, you are getting spanked worse than I was.

On the other hand, I have eaten a few twinkies since stopping, but then again I've been walking everywhere so I have actually lost weight.

There were a few others who were trying to quit. What happened to them?

I remember Pekka saying that he had quit for a month or so, I think...I wonder if he's kept it up?

Congratulations Agathon. Glad you found it easier than many.

I imagine I have smoked enough for both of us in the last month. I picked up your slack.

You paid too much b/c you bought retail...?

$2.50 a pack is the way to go.

              ITYM, socialist Canadian scum government.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

if they were socialist, you'd be paying the tax on my smokes.

Now that i think about it, it was easy to quit when i was pregnant with my kids. soon as all 3 were born I started again. smoke free for 9 months 3 times and then start up again I wonder why that was

I never understood what makes people start smoke.
