  • UK Government disbanded! Parliament dissolved!

    Time for a General Election!
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

We're gonna get new rulers on May 5.

Well, we're not as Labour will most likely win again and we'll have another term of Tony. The Conservatives will whine, the Lib Dems beam happily over their two new seats, and somewhere in Wales, something might happen. Not that I care.

All hail the glorious null change to the dear status quo!

Under english law, Blair could stall for another year but strechting seems to be a sure path for loosing, thus he's calling for one now.

His Toniness will win so why bother even having them?

Why do we bother asking the Queen to grant us a pointless election? Tradition mostly. Lack of something on telly is an important factor as well.

We just voted 6 months ago but we might have to go through it again in the near future.

Ya know, if you want, we could get rid of that pesky minority government for you. And once you've disbanded the Ottawa parliament, we might even let you have non-voting observers in the Commons. I mean, everyone loves direct rule from London. Just ask the Northern Irish.

Just try it. We've killed North American Indians, Americans, Boers, Germans, Austro-Hungarians, Turks, Italians, Japanese, Koreans, Iraqis and Serbs without dropping any decisions.

We'll gladly start on Brits if you give us an excuse.
