      • and we need a pope who will allow hot chicks into the priesthood. Of course they couldn't do that without abolishing the celibacy requirements.

I'm slightly joking, but isn't it about time to allow women to be something other than nuns? Equal rights for women. . women can molest little boys just as well as men can.

Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

              • Not sure if this has been covered (as there are alot of posts in this thread and I'm too lazy to read them all), but what are the general feelings about how the Pope is elected? I mean, there are only 117 votes, but almost (or over) a billion Catholics. Where is the leftist liberal protests about how people don't have an equal voice? Where's the "I'm a Catholic, why don't I get a say in who my leader is?"?

If you ask me, the entire process of electing a new pope is very similar to Heinlien's theroy of World Government in his book Starship Troopers.

                  • The NY Post reported that Ratzinger has a Nazi past. Turns out he joined the Hitler Youth at 14 in 1941 and was an anti-aircraft gunner. Then he was actually a guard at a slave-operated factory in Hungary.

I don't particularily like Ratzinger, but most of that is certainly distgusting mud throwing:

Joining the Hitler Youth at such an age can hardly be used as evidence of a "Nazi past". Group pressure, for once, was an important motive to join. Or zealot teachers pushing pupils to join. Come on, at the age of 14!
Anti-aircraft gunner - what an a#$§ could possibly do this? The alternative to military service back then was desertion. While such an act is certainly heroic, not making the step can hardly be seen as evidence for following nazi ideology...
The 3rd point is more serious if true, but then again, facts are often much more complicated than one line can make clear. What factory was that? What people were made guards there? How long did he do this? What was the duty of the guard? IMO, contrary to CCs (and not even there entirely), guards at such camps were not appointed according to their loyalty to the party.

Come back when the Post finds out that Ratzinger was member of the SS and took an active role in war crimes.

                              • If Ratzinger becomes Pope, the Anglicans and Lutherans better prepare for the influx of liberal catholics in Europe and the US converting; because Ratzinger is extremely conservative.
