Most likely they do. The point though is the electability of the parties. As long as Canadians are going to tolerate a climate where only one party is annointed as worthy of power, we will suffer the consequences.

It's a simple formula. If you don't want unending rule by the Liberals, but you don't trust the socially conservative wing of the Tories, then join the Tories and help make sure the party stays away from the extremes.
Or, join the NDP and help drag them away from the fringes that keep them out of power. Or give the Greens a go. Either case would require a bit more work than the Tories would most likely, but whatever suits your fancy.
Just do something!(\__/)

Is fear of the unknown worth dragging Canada to the level of Mexico of the North by continually returning the same party to power and thereby invitiing the level of arrogance that the Liberals are currently being roasted for?
I first heard of the neo con thing in the media. Of course this could be liberal propaganda.
Just google stephen harper and neo con and there is pages of the crap. I just look at it all and go what and who do i believe.
If the unknown turns out to be worse than what you just described than yes i guess corruption and arrogance would be acceptable. Unfortunately.
The crime is corruption. The sin that led to it was arrogance.

I wonder how long before the RCMP are writing probing letters in an effort to bring a past PM to justice...
Inquiry told PMO involved in sponsorship contracts

CBC News
OTTAWA - More potentially explosive allegations surfaced at the sponsorship inquiry on Friday. A former lobbyist and Groupaction employee testified he had a direct connection to the Prime Minister's Office.
John Gomery in Montreal, Thursday.
Alain Renaud said he was paid handsomely - more than $1 million - to open doors for Groupaction in Ottawa and sniff out government contracts.
Giving testimony before the inquiry headed by Justice John Gomery, Renaud said that getting close to the party in power was a necessity to win contracts in sponsorship and advertising.
"It's just the way the world works," he told the inquiry.
Renaud said he visited the Liberal Party of Canada's Quebec office to lobby for federal business. He claimed it was a place with the inside track on sponsorships.
"The director general regularly spoke to the Prime Minister's Office about sponsorship opportunities," he testified.
Renaud also testified that another key person he lobbied for government contracts was Jacques Corriveau, a close friend of former prime minister Jean Chrétien and a Liberal organizer.
In an interview Renaud said he was told by Chuck Guité , the bureaucrat in charge of sponsorships, that Corriveau was the man to meet if he wanted to get more government business.
"Mr. Guité presents me Mr. Corriveau. When Mr. Guité presents me he said. 'You have to stay close to that man. He's a friend of Chrétien's. It's going to be better for you."
Renaud's testimony is some of the strongest to allege a connection between those close to Chrétien and the sponsorship money.
On Thursday, Justice Gomery partially lifted a publication ban on most of the testimony given by Groupaction president Jean Brault. He told the inquiry he funnelled at least $1.1 million into the Liberal party's coffers in exchange for sponsorship contracts.
In other testimony on Friday, Jean Lambert another former employee of Groupaction, testified he asked to be removed from all federal files because they made him "uncomfortable."
He said when his wife's communications company won a contract with Health Canada, Guité told her the contract had to go through the ad firm of Jean Lafleur. "He (Lafleur) did no work and got to keep a 25 per cent cut," said Lambert.
The Gomery inquiry is expected to finish hearing testimony in early May and to produce a report in November.
Both Brault and Guité are scheduled to go on trial on fraud charges in June.(\__/)

He was a member or involved in some right wing organization or think tank before or during his time in the Alliance. I can't remember the name of it. This was from the media. For what thats worth.
I guess this organization has some pretty radical ideas on how things should be governed.

He was a member of the facuty of the University of Calgary. He has written some pretty fierce stuff as compared to what economists usually do. As an Albertan he was of the opinion that Alberta should protect itself by using the Quebec example of opting out of federal programs, hense the term 'firewalls around Alberta.'
However, as the leader of a national party he has adopted the POV of the nation as a whole and left provincial politics behind him. That may be why many old time Reformers out here are pissed off with him. He isn't anti-Liberal enough to sacrifice the interests of the nation by defeating the Liberals ASAP.
The charge of neo-con is new to me though.Last edited by notyoueither; April 9, 2005, 02:40.(\__/)
