Now we need to talk about the Pope being on a feeding tube, the Catholic church's new position on the issue, whether or not Catholic hospitals will defy US law on the issue, what to do if the Pope refuses to retire and laspes into PVS, ect. ect.

The pres has spoken and essentially asked for a reform in laws so that if there is doubt, we err on the side of life.

The Vatican issue a sharp denunciation, saying this was an attack on God because it was an attack on life, and God is the author of life.

Jeb Bush sent his condolences to the parents of Terri, pointedly leaving out any mention of Michael.

You'd think that artificial life support would be an affront to god...

People in Africa aren't in an air conditioned room on a bed, being given drugs to ward of disease. I think if you were standing out in the brutal heat, trying to move about and racked by parasites, then your discomfort level will be vastly greater.

This circus will unfortunatelly continue. I find the demonization of the husband and the judiciary disgusting and a perfect exampe of the manichean worldview of those who advocate for this "culture of life"- the fact they are freaking hypocrites all around only makes them more disagreeable.

The body has to want to die. People don't always feel hunger when their time is up.

But when the person is not conscious or unable to communicate, it is impossible to know whether they are "ready" or not.

praise be to god she's dead.

not only is she now in a better place, but hopefully, we can get back to the important things in our lives.

actually, now that i think about it, having zero brain activity suggests that her soul left earth for that better place, long ago.

Brother Paul O’Donnell, an adviser to the Schindlers, said the parents and their two other children “were denied access at the moment of her death" and were only allowed into her hospice room after she died.

                        Nice of this "loving" husband.

                        ACK!

The report I heard said the siblings were denied and that the parents arrived too late (they were not denied).

Bush's comments were laughable when capital punishment is considered (the need to protect life - particularly those at the mercy of others, etc.).
