The whole thing is as dumb as trying to have liberal talk radio. Liberals have jobs, particularly jobs that require focused thought... they don't have time to listen to talk radio.

Giving students the power to sue their professors because of perceived left-wing political bias is certainly heading down that path.

Wasn't there a thread awhile back about demands for universities to be required to hire more conservative profs?

this just shows that liberals aren't smart enough to make money the real way, that's why they teach.

Hey I hate conservatives as much as the next guy. But they are great at making money and screwing people over. They can hold real jobs.

That's why I'm talking about the American academic literature I got to use in my actually scientific university (in Stuttgart) The US produced the best texts, but also the most moronic and ideologic ones. By contrast, the German texts I've got to read were pretty bland (sometimes interesting though), and the main source of variation wasn't moronism, but illegibility.

The reason liberals dominate in acedemia may have something to with the fact that people who hate business do not seem to do well in private business and may have no other place to go to make a living.

Conservatives are greedy capitalists, while liberals place less of a priority on making money, so the smarter conservatives go off to industry, leaving the dumb conservatives to compete with smart liberals in academia.

Make that "unintelligibility" then. Some German texts are blatantly unreadable because of page-long sentences, and because of atrioucious, longer-than-your-arm adjectives. And German is a language where you have to read the whole fricking setence before understanding it!

Except that I never said it was an "example of AA," and said it was just a sign of things heading in that direction. You said you thought it would be a "very, very long time" before such things happen. The link was just to show it might not be quite so far off.

Given that Phd's in private business probably earn 5-10 times what professors make, the people in universities either are not good enough to work in private industry, or they are handicapped in some other way.
