According to UR, the secret we've all been missing is the obscure art of the 'karate chop'.

Read the Goddamn report you cretins. Most of the points made come directly from the US media which the Chinese have helpfully cited. That's why it's funny: most of what they claim was cobbled together by your own MSM.
It's not my idea Imran. "Let him who is without sin... " is classic red-stater fare.
Read it three years ago, as they do it everytime a Humane report is issued against. It's typical Chinese diversionary tactics. China's greatest fear is the truth.
How many Chinese abuses can you cite that you read outside of the US report? Everything in the report they wrote about America is already well known. Hell, even America's own media makes it available. It's all certainly been highlighted in other countries' medias. Meanwhile, China tries desperately to conceal it's abuses. And when they are pointed out, the typical response is, "Look at what the US is doing. Or other countries did it, why can't we?" Foreigners (here and abroad) biggest complaint about China's English news channel is often, "Where's the bad news?" The affect of this is obvious to those who have spent a significant amount time here. Those who only know about China through its propoganda machine have a very different view of it than those who have lived here. Then there's simply the matter of scale.
I support the US document as a means of getting this information out. Otherwise, it will be hidden away, and the plights of those people who suffered will be lost forever with know ever knowing. Sad that there are those who would simply ignore them.

Hey, UR, how humane is a 9mm fired at the chest?
Actually, the Chinese use a 9mm fired at the back of the head.

Personally I'd liken it more to a dove-grey pot and a pitch-black kettle. The pot may not be snowy white (and in fact has become significantly darker of late), however in terms of human rights there is still no serious comparison.
Laugh if you like, but I don't really find it funny efforts by totalitarian regimes to distract people from their own situation, one in China in which there is no democracy, no freedom of the press, no freedom of religion, no fair court system, persecution of ethnic minorities, an extreme anti-labor government, etc.

Shi: Given the posting habits of UR and the like here, are you really suprised that people (che, kid, and aggie) would engage in a bit of "Look at what the US is doing!" no matter how sad it makes them look?

Generally speaking, the right-wingers (especially Shi) complain when a "look at country X doing something bad" thread degenerates into US-bashing.
And they're precisely the same ones who turn that "look at the US doing something bad" into a China-bashing
