in this country they are setting up a system where drug dealers can anonymously purchase tax stamps to pay tax on their income from selling drugs.

some US states already have a similar system in place, though i hear its success has been rather limited...

It says in the OP that she's doing it to make enough profit to stay home with her boys. In that case she better report it. If she were just getting rid of some old baby cloths she wouldn't have to.

i'm not joking, they are actually talking about setting this up. i can't see dealers queuing up to pay tax on their gear, pills and coke myself, but there you go.

What's Zopperoni got to do with this thread?

I think that eBay income should be taxed - although provided it reaches a certain (high) level. And they should tell me the way to creatively account for avoiding this tax so that I can make a fortune.

If you do it as a hobby (only a few sales a year) it will likely be treated as a hobby and hence non-taxable income.
Whether the government considers it a hobby depends on how much money you make.

I'd agree to this if the income exceeds something like $20,000...

but not for somebody like me who has made maybe $2,000 in the last 6 months

btw, why are all my posts disappearing? I can understand the first one being deleted, if that was the case, but the other ones weren't profane or anything.

And how would our government run without them? On voluntary payments? Even I wouldn't do that, and I think taxation's a good thing.

                          progressive taxation

going after people who make money off ebay when big corporations dodge billions in taxes

IMO, the IRS shouldn't even take on any cases that involve people who make under $100,000 a year

                            thats a great point

hmmm i'd like to see ' moral taxation' for this kind of thing, based on the positive or negative influence these big tax dodgers have on our living planet(so human and nature damage gets negative points - helpful things to preserve our world get positive points).

I prefer civilization and its evils to that. I would, however, prefer civilization without its evils even more, which is what I fight for.

                                civilisation...... :shudder:

quick i need my hugging tree!

I still dont like the sound of this taxing ebay users etc, especialy if they get silly with it. The internet is our modern cry for freedom and they want to take it away from us

And i respect your desire not to want to muck out cow sheds, even if you might find you would like it
