  • You're now Terri Schiavo, Please vote HONESTLY

Saw this poll on another site and liked it.

Would you want to be kept alive in a Persistent Vegetative State? Yes or no?

I'm not asking if you would want the same thing that's being done to Terri now be done to you. I'm asking, that, if you all of a sudden were to be injured so that you were in a PVS, would you want to be kept alive at all? Not would you want your husband, or parents, or whatever to pull the plug...what would you want?

I don't even want to be kept alive in a healthy state, let alone PVS...
To us, it is the BEAST.

I also would not want to live as a qudripalegic (though parapalegic would be okay)

basically any kind of permanent condition where I can't take care of myself (like taking a **** or cleaning myself)- I would want to die.

Hard to tell. Do we really know what that means for the person in such a state?

I'd probably want to be killed. If the personality is lost and I'm effectively dead, then killing me will save trouble for many people. If there's still something going on in my mind, then I definitely rather die than be trapped like that.

From what I've heard, I don't believe I'd be in a position to "want" anything. But I saw Kill Bill again last night, and I'm thinking I don't want to risk becoming one of "Buck's girls," whether I can feel it or not, plus it is a waste of cash. So sure, let me go under those circumstances.

Yes. For one, Terri might not be in a PVS. If that's the case, we should certainly keep her alive and get the physical therapy she has been denied. If she is in a PVS, well she isn't aware she is kept alive so there is no harm in that.

I heard about this semi-concious state, it doesn't sound any better than a permanent vegetative state.

                        In either case: Kill me.

That's a load of horse****, something that is not true but is held onto by those who are fighting for her. She's not going to get better.

Does a PVS mean the person can not recover?

Anyway, trapped in a body is a horrible state, if she's somewhat conscious. Think "One" by Metallica.
